Well it has certainly been a very busy month for me. With February now gone, I have decided to kick of March with a small preview of Windows Aero Messenger 2.
I have been pretty silent about the skin so many people will still ask if I am still working on it. Well rest assured I am. The skin itself is complicated as there is a lot of things I had to set up before I could actually start skinning and make some visual changes.
I have had a few comments about the silent release of my Horton Hears a Who skin and let me just say that no I have not lost the last shred of sanity that I had and that there was a purpose for that skin, all of which will come to light very soon-ish.
Anyway onto Windows Aero Messenger 2.
The skin has hit a stage where visual changes are coming rapidly. Because the majority of the code from 8.1 works nicely, porting it over has been no problem. The main thing I have been focusing on is setting up the core of the skin to allow users to be able to select how they want the skin to look.
Now for a small demonstration:

The first is a screen shot of the Aero Dark theme. Nothing new right? Well lets mix things up a bit with some user settings:

So I went into the options panel and changed two settings which has caused the skin to change slightly. This is what I mean by a theme generator, there will be a large amount of variation that a user can make. The beauty of this system will be that people can mix and match themes and can also easily switch from Windows Aero Messenger to Vista Live Messenger.
Well I'll finish this up by putting screen shot of the options panel so far. This is nowhere near final so you haven't seen nothing yet.

Until next time,
Willz
