Well guys its finally here. I finally am proud to present Windows Aero Messenger 2.0.

This is one of the most difficult skins I have made in a while in the sense that the amount of thought I had to put in was crazy. Anyway It's time to let the cat out of the bag and take a quick overview of the skin and its features. If you want a more in depth look then I will be posting something up in the releases section of the forums soon so stay tuned.

Anyway.....

When the first Windows Aero Messenger was created I had talked to ipab about the idea of modifying his installer program so that people could select how certain parts of the skin were patched. We were going to have it so users could select certain aspects of the theme to be different e.g have a different color vista orb depending on what the user picked.

Of course in the end it was simply a no go due to the unbelievable amount of effort that would have been required. So now we come to Plus! skins. Plus! skins allow resources to be replaced conditionally which opened the way for this idea to work. I was going to make Windows Aero Messenger before Ev0 but couldn't as there was still things missing from the skinning system which just would not allow the core of the skin to be made.

So Messenger Plus! 4.60 was the answer to all of this which allowed the core of Windows Aero Messenger to be created. With the core working I was then able to create some groups that allowed people to switch from Windows Aero Messenger to Vista Live Messenger. But I did not stop there.
I made it so pretty much every aspect of the skin was customizable. Here is a screenshot of the final options panel:



So as you can see there are literally thousands of possibilities that can be done with this skin. Windows Aero Messenger has something to offer for everyone so I really encourage people to muck around with all the styles and see how colorization affects a skin.

But its not ending here. The release of this skin is just the beginning. Stay tuned to designevolved.net this week for the release of two more skins. Yes thats right two more skins.

Indeed it is... Only I have a Swedish friend who wants to use the skin, is there anyway he can just set Messenger to be English?

Well technically if their language isn't supported then it should load English as the default language for the options panel.

hi! thanks for the skin, as always, it is the best messenger skin you can find, i used the last vista live messenger until i couldnt resist to update to 8.5, then i was expecting until now.

but i have a pair of questions:
1. how could i get the exact configuration like the right one in this image?

i mean, no publicity on the bottom of windows, manage contacts bar on the bottom, the buttons minimize, maximize and close with vista looking and show menu button on top, not in the bar. and, is there any way to reduce the distance between cntacts? because only a few contacts fit in.
as you know, you must restart messenger for every single change, so i have tried many different configurations unsuccessfully and i am getting a bit crazy, so i would thank a little help.

2. the second is about a little bug with some icons, the general messenger ones (with two buddys, connecting or disconnected), in the taskbar and tray they show some black dots around them, it is not so soft as the other ones.

and also how do i get the name of the contacts to show up in that blue color and not the white....
