Ok well some of you may have already figured out that what I posted about Microsoft and skins yesterday was a complete lie. It was April fools day and I decided to have a bit of fun. I knew that it would be something that some people would believe since people consider me to be the "WLM skinning guy" so if anyone were to find out about such a feature it would be me.
Anyway Microsoft is not doing anything with skins at all so yeah Plus! is still number one in that. But I had a second motive with that news post, I posted pretty much what would be a logical explanation into the delay of 9.0 and would start a discussion. The point of that news item was to see how people would react if Microsoft were to actually implement skins.
I mean it would be really bad if Microsoft (at least on their part) has not noticed skins by now and the effect they are having on the Windows Live Messenger community so maybe this is something for them to think about?
It is quite possible that in the future Microsoft would possibly see the light and make a skinning system of their own, after all there is a huge window of opportunity there. Music artists could promote themselves though skins and so could the movies and games industry. What better way to do it than with a client that was made for talking? I am really doubtful that they will ever take skins into consideration but hey you never know.
Anyway that closes April fools for this year, like the title said:
Just be glad I didn't Rick Roll everyone
Because I could have posted "exclusive" footage of the new feature in action. Maybe next year
