If you look in the skin's folder (C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! Live\Skins\<your skin's name here>) you might find a registry entry that can disable ads. Some people include ad-removing features, but others don't. All of Willz's skins have ad-removers, for example.

That's another reason why willz is one of the best skinners, besides the kickass GUI, he gives the user possibility to remove the ads.
I'm having a problem with the ad removers. They just don't seem to work anymore. Plus updated to version 5, and I have to re-install both WLM and plus in an attempt to fix a problem with emoticons (the fix didn't work). Upon re-installing WLM 14.0.8117 and plus ver. 5, I also installed Fuse and Zero-G skins. I downloaded the appropriate ad-remover for each of the skins, and tried both of them with their respective skins. When I start WLM after applying the ad-remover, I see that the ads and, most annoyingly, the video carousel are still there.
I know this is an old thread, but figured since it had to do with Ad-removers it would be better to post here. I know that people sometimes get kinda testy about people starting new threads.
It's because MsgPlus 5 has a new location in the registry, so al the ad-remover files by Willz add a registry key at the wrong location
Lets take the Pulse skin for example:
Old key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Patchou\Messenger Plus! Live\GlobalSettings\Skins\Pulse\Settings]
New key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Yuna Software\Messenger Plus!\Windows Live Messenger\GlobalSettings\Skins\Pulse\Settings]
So if you want to do it yourself, you can just open up the Ad-Remover file of your skin and change the path to the right folder like i showed above.
Hope this was helpfull

I've tried that and the ads are still there.
